Jim Bateman

Jim is an Eagle Scout, Scoutmaster, and experienced outdoorsman, with extensive experience in emergency preparedness, orienteering, climbing, and caving. He maintains certification in American Red Cross First Aid and CPR, and is a trained BSA climbing instructor, lifeguard, and in Leave No Trace.

Zach has 1 year experience in search and rescue.

Chris Connolly

Chris grew up in Katy, TX. He participated in Scouting for 11 years, earning his Eagle Scout and developing a lifelong love for the outdoors. He now attends the University of Texas at Austin, studying Human Biology and Pre-Medicine. He has been active with the team since October 2007. He is now a Certified Land SAR Technician and one of the team's active medics. He is both a Nationally Registered EMT-Basic, and American Red Cross CPR Trained.

Bradley Huddleston

Bradley is a founding youth member of USHERO and SAR Team 8. He is a Venture Scout Ranger, with extensive experience in emergency preparedness, orienteering, and wilderness survival. He maintains certification in American Red Cross First Aid and CPR. Bradley is the recipient of the Certificate of Merit from the Austin Fire Department for life saving actions in 2004 and has responded to Hurricanes Emily and Katrina.

Andrei Klypin

Andrei grew up in Las Cruces, New Mexico, where he developed a love for day hikes and community service. He now attends the University of Texas at Austin and is pursuing a major in architecture. He spent his summers during high school volunteering at the Memorial Medical Center emergency room, where he assisted the nursing staff in bandaging, suturing, and moving patients. Andrei moved into formal first responder training his second year of college, with Sunset Valley Search and Rescue. He is now a Land Search and Rescue Technician.

Bryan Lai

Bryan has 1 year experience in search and rescue.

Hector Padilla

Hector has undergone the City of Austin Office of Emergency Management Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) training (2006). The core training modules in this program included personal disaster preparedness and disaster psychology, NWS's basic storm spotter course, basics of urban fire, wildfire and fire suppression, a terrorism primer, disaster medical operations and the basics of wilderness/light urban search and rescue. Through the CERT program he also participated in the American Red Cross shelter operations course. Hector has taken several informal classes in wilderness survival, orienteering and American Red Cross certified courses in basic first aid and CPR. Hector has volunteered in the O'Henry Middle School shelter during Hurricane Rita. He is a certified land search and rescue technician with USHERO, SAR team 8. Hector has a BA degree in Geography with tracks in Environmental Resource Management and Earth Science and a Masters degree in Geographic Information Science (GIS) and Cartography. Hector is currently employed as an aerial mapping/GIS technician with Surveying and Mapping, Inc. Current interests include the utilization of GIS technology in Natural Hazards research and Emergency Response.
